Greatest Golf Moment
Ward described playing in one of his first national senior golf events; the 2009 National Senior Hall of Fame Championship in High Point No. Carolina and being randomly paired with former USGA Senior Amateur Champion Mike Rice and the reigning Golfweek number one ranked senior amateur in the country Ron Carter for the first two rounds and remembered how his hands were shaking on the first tee and then being paired with former USGA Senior Amateur Champion Mike Bell in Round 3 and having none of them ask him how he received an invitation. Ward reports his phone lit up with texts for 4 days from his supporters back home once they recognized his pairings and when they learned from the tournament web site the level of competition in the event. Ward said at the time his top 20 finish felt like winning the event. Ward stated it was an amazing way to be introduced to national senior golf and one of his greatest thrills.
