Playoff set for final spots in Washington MET Am
CHEVY CHASE, Md. (Aug. 1, 2013) -- The venerable Columbia Country Club, celebrating its 115th birthday this season, held off the best players in the area in the stroke play qualifying of the 94th Metropolitan Amateur as only two players, Ben Warnquist and Bart George, beat par with two-under 68s.
Eleven players who scored 74 are slated to return at 7:00 AM to player for the last four qualifying spots. The starting times for the play-off are as follows:
7:00 AM - Michael Calkin, Carter Connelly and Tim Krouse
7:10 AM - John Ohly, James Lillie, Will Wiseman and Sean Heintzelman
7:20 AM - Dudley Payne, Josh Notes, Alex Hoffman and Mike Reese.
The practice facilities will open at approximately 6:00 AM. Players have been urged to plan for the usual heavy DC area traffic. The holes to be used are #s 18 and 17, repeated as necessary.
The first regular match that has two players already determined will begin at 7:00 AM on Hole #1. The matches with one player to be determined by the play-off will start out of sequence.
