Beyhan claims Mesilla Valley Amateur
LAS CRUCES, N.M. (Aug. 25, 2013) — A good way to begin your collegiate career at a new university is to win an amateur event at your future home course.
Patrick Beyhan did just that. Shooting 135 over the weekend at New Mexico State University's home track, University Golf Course, Beyhan won the Mesilla Valley Amateur by two strokes.
Beyhan transferred last year from Western New Mexico University, redshirting in the 2012-2013 season and will be a junior this year.
Two shots behind Beyhan was his new teammate, junior Brett Walker, who shot 137.
University of Texas-El Paso junior Jere Pelletier rounded out the top three, finishing in third place with a two-round total of 140.
