Wood wins Labor Day Invitational
BIRMINGHAM, AL (Sept. 2, 2013) — Del Wood III opened the Labor Day Invitational with a 68 to lead by one. By Labor Day, Wood hadn't played quite as well as that opening 68, but still managed to capture the event and go home victorious.
Wood shot 71-73 on Sunday and Monday, winning by one stroke over Steve Wilson. Wilson trailed Wood by one after Saturday's opening round, and shot the same scores the next two days as Wood, just in reverse order.
Third place was split between two players, Matt Ritchie and Austin Hynson, both of which played much better on Sunday and Monday than they did on Saturday. Ritchie went 75-71-71 while Hynson went 76-74-67, the 67 being the lowest round of the tournament.
