Justin Thomas, the 2012 College Player of the Year, has signed with Excel Sports Management. Thomas announced earlier this summer that he would not return to Alabama for his junior season. The Crimson Tide won the NCAA Championship last spring.
Thomas, a native of Goshen, Ky., turned professional the day after the Walker Cup, where he compiled a 2-0-1 record. In two seasons at Alabama, he won six tournaments and ended his freshman season by winning the Nicklaus and Haskins awards.
“A consistent and passionate competitor, Justin epitomizes hard work and drive,” said Lance Young, the Excel agent who will be representing Thomas. “He has the energy and dedication that will help him succeed in his pro career, and we are thrilled to have him a part of the Excel family.”
Thomas will make his professional debut Oct. 10-13 at the Frys.com Open, where he will play on a sponsor exemption.
“After achieving a personal goal of mine – representing the United States in the Walker Cup – I am ready to embark on my pro golf career,” said Thomas. “I loved the time I spent at Alabama and am confident that I am now in very good hands with Excel. I am looking forward to travel around the world and competing against the best of the best. This is a very exciting time for me.”
