Atlanta Amateur Match Play: Noll, Healy to play for title
JOHNS CREEK, Ga. --- David Noll, Jr., of Dalton
will meet Zachary Healy of Peachtree Corners in
the finals of the Atlanta Amateur Match Play
Championship on Sunday at Rivermont Golf and
Country Club.
Noll, who will play for his fifth victory
at this competition, reached the finals with a
quarterfinal win over reigning Georgia Senior
champion Jack Hall of Sea Island, 3 and 2, and
a semifinal win over Rivermont member Jerry
McFadden of Johns Creek, 3 and 1.
Healy, a senior at Norcross High
School who will begin his University of Georgia
career next fall, defeated Rivermont club
champion Brad Hondros of Atlanta, 1 up, in the
quarterfinals, and Georgia Tech golfer Michael
Hines of Woodstock, 2 up. The 95th annual
Atlanta Amateur Match Play Championship was
open to male amateur golfers who are GSGA
members and the field is made up of those with
the lowest USGA Handicap Indexes. The format
is 18 holes of stroke play qualifying with the low
31 and defending champion advancing to
single-elimination match play.
