Defending champ Howson leads at Maryland Sr. Open
FREDRICKSBURG, Md. (Oct. 15, 2013) -- Defending champion John Howson shot a 5-under 67 in Round 1 and leads at the Maryland Senior Open at Worthington Manor.
Howson, an amateur, is one shot up on professionals John Francisco and Rick Schuller, who both shot 4-under 68 in Tuesday's first round.
Michael Kelly is the next lowest amateur, firing a first-round 1-under 71.
The second and final round will be played Wednesday.

This tournament is open to male amateurs and
professionals
who are residents of Maryland or
members of member clubs of the
Maryland State Golf Association.
All players must have reached their
50th
birthdays by the start of the tournament.
The competition will be
36 holes stroke play with Senior (50 years
of age and over) and Super Senior (60
and over) categories.
