Maryland Sr. Open: 2012 champ Howson takes 3rd
FREDERICK, Md. (Oct. 16, 2013) -- Defending champion John Howson was in contention to win a second straight Maryland Senior Open title --- as an amateur, nonetheless. But a final-round 72 allowed a pair of professionals to upend him as he took third place.
John Francisco shot 68-67 to finish at 9-under and three shots ahead of runner-up Rick Schuller.
Red-hot Mike Occi and Michael Kelly, both amateurs, tied for sixth place at Worthington Manor Golf Club.
