Stocker Cup Notes: Round 1
News and Notes from the first round of the
2013 Stocker Cup:
• The 2013 event introduced a major change
in the net flight of the Stocker Cup.
Rechristened the Ruth Stocker Barry Flight in
honor of Peter Stocker's mother who
passed away last year, net players competed
individually utilizing a modified
Stableford format. Previously, net players had
competed as a team with a scratch
player. Players received 1 point for net or
gross bogeys, 2 for pars, 4 four birdies and
6 for eagles.
• The other adjustment to the 2013
championship was a change to a 54-hole
tournament. The previous Stocker Cups had
been contested over 72 holes.
Joe Sanders, one of three past champions in
the field along with Kevin Marsh and
Randy Haag, is two back. The 2008 champion
carded an even-par 72 on the 7,067-
yard Preserve GC. Haag is four behind after
an opening 74.
