Sam Horsfield opens with red-hot 60 at Orlando City Amateur
ORLANDO, Fla. (Nov. 15, 2013) -- Sam Horsfield, a highly-touted junior, fired a 10-under 60 and leads the Orlando City Amateur after the first round.
Horsfield, 16, is up by seven shots after his red-hot first-round effort entering the second of three rounds at Dubsdread Golf Course.
Horsfield made a run earlier this year at the U.S. Junior Amateur before falling in the quarterfinals.
He won the 2013 Florida State Amateur in dominating fashion, prevailing by 11 shots.

The Orlando City Amateur is a flighted 54-hole event played at the historic Dubsdread Golf Course. The tournament has a Championship Flight, Senior Division & Open Flights. Eligibility for this event is for ages 15 and up with a verifiable handicap index of 12 or lower. There is no residency requirement. Past champions of the Orlando City Am have gone on to play college and professional golf all the way up to the PGA Tour.
