Cromie takes CCNC Amateur lead
Michael Cromie
PINEHURST, N.C. (Dec. 18, 2013) -- Michael Cromie of the University of Georgia shot a second straight 74 and took the lead after two rounds of play at the 2013 Country Club of North Carolina Amateur.
Playing on the resort's Dogwood Course, Cromie's consistent effort gives him a one-shot lead over a trio of competitors.
UNC's Michael McGowan, UNC Greensboro's Carter Jenkins and Will Long of Auburn, are all one shot back entering what's sure to be a wild finale.
First-round leader John Somers, who remains the only player in the field to break par thanks to a Tuesday 68, struggled in Round 2 and shot 86.
The 2nd annual 54-hole collegiate/amateur tournament, presented by the Tarheel Golf Foundation, is played solely on the championship Dogwood course. The Dogwood has hosted many CGA and USGA events, including six Southern Amateurs and a U.S. Amateur.
