Aaron Wise wins San Diego Junior
JAMUL, Calif. (Jan. 5, 2013) -- Aaron Wise of Corona, Calif. fired rounds of 67-69-71--207 to win the 2014 San Diego Junior Amateur.
Run through the Future Champions Golf Tour, the San Diego Junior Amateur is a 54-hole stroke-play event at Steele Canyon Golf Club is considered the West Coast's premier winter break junior golf championship. Past winners include University of Texas star Beau Hossler.
Wise, a University of Oregon early commit, bested a field loaded with some top junior talent.
Tai Lin Song of China took solo second while Jonah Texeira of Los Angeles shot 70-72-67 to take third place.
Ellen Takada of Irvine Calif. went wire-to-wire to win the Girls 15-18 title. She was four shots better than Newport Beach, Calif. golfer Alyaa Abdulghany (71-75-73) and two better than Emilee Hoffman (73-72-75).
Other flight winners included: Edwin Kuang (Boys 11-12), Thomas Hutchison (Boys 13-14), Jay Leng, Jr. (Boys 8-under), Ian Fritz (Boys 9-10), Karah Sanford (Girls 11-12), Carolyn Zhao (Girls 13-14), Ali Mulhall (Girls 8-under), Jett Lagacion (Girls 9-10).
