MORGAN HILL, Calif. (Jan. 12, 2014) -- Australian-born Mac Marr, a Sophomore at St. Mary's showed that spending a Christmas break in Australia (where it's summer) can help anyone's golf game.

In bitter cold and windy conditions on a course where downwind green speeds ran more than 15 on the Stimpmeter, he was able to control his golf ball and better the best score of the day by two. He was the only player to shoot par or better and remain under par for the tournament.

Marr shot 70-72=142 to edge fellow Gaels golfer Cody Robinson by five shots. Marr was 3-under through 12 holes, highlighted by a six-hole stretch in the middle of the round where he was 4-under from Nos. 7-12. He and Robinson were tied for the lead entering the day and were able to make it a 1-2 finish for St. Mary's.

A stunning comeback highlighted the Senior Division as 2013 amateurgolf.com Player-of-the Year Mark Miller of Antioch shot 157 for a one stroke win over Mike Parnow by one. Miller started the day six shots off of the lead.

In the Net Division, another current POY was able to capture victory. Vince Steele shot a net 148 to win by nine over Scott Carelli.
