Kingsway Sr: Occi wins shortened event
LAKE SUZY, Fla. (Jan. 14, 2014) -- Shortened due to weather, the Kingsway Senior Invitational was won by Maryland's Mike Occi, who, on Monday, shot a second-straight 66 and to surge to a 10-shot lead --- and now, win.
The Clarksville, Md. resident won by 10 over Steve Groom of Missouri. Groom followed his first-round 69 up with a 73 on Monday.
Mike Jackson and Tom Hyland finished 15 shots back of Occi and tied for third place while Bob Allshouse roundied out the Top 5.
Tim Miller of Venice, Fla. won the Super Senior Division by a shot over Bob Yow. Miller shot 71 on Monday to nip Yow's 72.
Ray Darmstadt of Cocoa Beach, Fla. won by three shots in the Legends division. He shot 74 Monday to extend his lead.
