Golfweek Senior: Fisher takes early lead

WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. (Jan. 16, 2014) -- Herb Fisher of The Woodlands shot a 1-over 71 and leads by a shot at the 2014 Golfweek Senior National Championship at the Saddlebrook Resort.
Fisher, who finished 2013 as the No. 31-ranked player in the Golfweek/amateurgolf.com Senior Rankings, logged six Top 20s in national events last year. He placed sixth at the Senior Masters and seventh at the SOS Hesler. He tied for 18th at last year's Golfweek Senior.
Fisher will enter the second-round of action on Friday with a one-shot victory over Eddie Lyons of Shreveport, La. Lyons shot 2-over 72 in Round 1 and sits ahead of fellow Shreveport residents Hal Wright (73) and Mike Ameen (74).
Mark Macejko of North Carolina also shot 74 to round out the Top 5.
In the Super Senior Division, Naples, Fla. resident Jim Rollefson shot 72 and leads by two over Jim Anthony of Indiana.
Bill Engel, Gary Kirwin and Joe Pavoni all shot 75s and are tied for third place.
Ray Darmstadt leads by a shot in the Legends Division after a first-round 78.
