AGC Wine Country Cup: De Los Reyes jumps to lead
NOVATO, Calif. (Jan. 25, 2014) -- Under ideal scoring conditions, Jonathan De Los Reyes fired a 5-under 67 at StoneTree Golf Club and enters the final round at the 2014 amateurgolf.com Wine Country Cup presented by Callaway Golf with a three-shot lead
De Los Reyes, who won last year's Antioch City Championship and tied for second at the Contra Costa County Amateur, recorded seven birdies on his round -- which put him one shot off the course record of 66.
"I hit it solid all day," said the St. Mary's red-shirt junior. De Los Reyes hit 16 greens in regulation throughout his opening round.
The leader is joined by teammates atop the leaderboard as he holds a three-shot lead over Cody Robinson with Alex Bungert not far behind. Gaels golfer Mac Marr, of course, recently won the AGC Silicon Valley Amateur
Greg O'Malley and Allen Suzuki share the lead with 77 in the Senior Championship flight. In total, eight players are within three shots of the lead, making for what's sure to be a wild final round on Sunday.
In the Net division, five locals all shot under par with Bill Hudson leading the way with a 6-under 66. Heading into Sunday, he holds a two-shot lead over John Foley.
