LA QUINTA, Calif. (Feb. 19, 2014) -- Stanford survived a final-round run by Washington to pull out a two-shot victory Wednesday at The Prestige at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif.
The Huskies carded the round of the day, a 14-under 270, but the Cardinal did enough with a 2-under 282 to finish at 21 under and open the spring with a victory.
Patrick Rodgers took medalist honors for Stanford, shooting a closing even-par 71 to end up at 9-under 204, one shot better than Max Rottluff of Arizona State. Washington's Gerrit Chambers was third at 7 under.
The Cardinal also got top 10s from Cameron Wilson (T-4) and Jim Liu (T-7), who was competing as an individual.
UCLA was third at 11 under while LSU (6 under) was fourth. USC finished a disappointing ninth out of 12 teams.

ABOUT THE
54 hole men's college tournament played in
California's Coachella Valley which features an all-
star field of many of major college golf's top teams
and players. The Prestige is co-hosted
by eight time NCAA Champion Stanford University of
the Pac 12 Conference and UC Davis of the Big West
Conference.
There is a college/am
tournament fund raiser the day before the
tournament proper begins which is a great way to
see first hand how these players (many of whom will
go on to PGA Tour careers) go about their business.
