SCGA Foursomes: Gladstone/Walker win in playoff
LA HABRA HEIGHTS, Calif. (March 25, 2014) -- Cory Gladstone and Phil Walker defeated Mark Manwaring and Cass Traub on the fourth playoff hole to win the 2014 Southern California Golf Association Foursomes Championship Tuesday at Hacienda Golf Club.
The two teams finished the 36 holes of regulation with identical scores of 70-73--143 (1-over) and needed a four-hole playoff to determine the winning team in the SCGA's first major championship of the 2014 season.
Joe Ryon and partner Peter Roberts shot 2-under 69 on Tuesday but couldn't close the gap to join the playoff, finishing two shots out and alone in third place. Ryon, of course, has been known to go low. He shot 59 last year at El Camino Country Club and helped Taylor Made win Golfweek's Industry Cup on two occasions.
Gary Gallogly and Mark Harding took fourth place alongside Dave Aarons and Brennan Amirkhizi, finishing just three back of the winners.
