Florida Senior: Pete Williams wins 2nd title
VERO BEACH, Fla. (April 17, 2014) -- Pete Williams of Juno Beach shot a final-round 69 to close a masterful performance at the 53rd playing of the Florida Senior Amateur, winning by six shots at Vero Beach Country Club.
Williams opened play with a 3-over 75 but closed with rounds of 67-69 to win with ease.
Williams recorded a hole-in-one in the first round and eagled the par-5 eighth hole in Round 2 to highlight a terrific performance from start to finish.
In Thursday's final round, Williams made birdies on Nos. 14, 16 and 17 to close out the victory.
Michael Cox and David Roschman tied for second place while defending champion and 2013 FSGA Senior Player of the Year Doug LaCrosse took fourth.
