A who's who collection of amateurs are prepared for the start of another year at a where's where type of golf course.

Indeed, another field filled with the nation's top mid-amateurs and seniors heads to famed Seminole Golf Club for the start of the 2014 George L. Coleman Invitational Thursday.

Among the most exclusive and private clubs on any golf bucket list, Seminole is the Juno Beach, Fla. Donald Ross beauty set on the Atlantic. The oceanic winds make for very fast greens and challenge what has become one of the year's best fields.

This year's list of competitors is no exception.

Defending champion and reigning U.S. Mid-Amateur champion Mike McCoy returns to defend his title. Fresh off his start at The Masters, the Iowa native has continued to play solid golf since his win a year ago.

Skip Berkmeyer, who battled with McCoy for the mid-am title last year, is also back.

The field features an international feel with the inaugural Concession Cup upcoming. Members of both the U.S. and Great Britain and Ireland teams are scattered throughout the Coleman fields.

Scott Harvey, Trip Kuehne, Gene Elliot, Tim Jackson and Patrick Christovich join McCoy as Mid-Amateur Coleman competitors that will be teammates next week at Concession.

In the Senior field, Vinny Giles, John Grace, Doug Hanzel, Chip Lutz, Patrick Tallent and George Zahringer join defending champion Paul Simson as players that will join forces next week against competitors from the GB&I team.

It all makes for an extra buzz surrounding an event -- and host course -- that already buzzes with excitement.

First-round action begins Thursday morning at Seminole Golf Club. AmateurGolf.com will bring you post-round coverage and more. For a full look at the 2014 field and first-round pairings and tee-times, please follow the link below.

ABOUT THE Coleman Invitational

One of the very best amateur events all year long played on the last great private course designed by Donald Ross. The course, not long by today's standards, lies hard by the Atlantic Ocean. Oceanic winds and very fast greens give this course teeth. Ben Hogan once said 'If you can play Seminole, you can play any course in the world.'

The tournament is a 54-hole stroke play invitational that draws an elite field of mid- amateurs and seniors.
