BRYAN, Texas (April 17, 2014) — With its largest field size in tournament history, the 2014 Tower Invitational will be played April 30-May 2 at Miramont Country Club.

A total of 100 players will take aim at the title in the fourth annual Tower Invitational, including many of the nation’s top-ranked senior amateurs.

Kip Estep is among the hottest. He’s coming off a second-place finish at the Society of Senior’s Masters and a Top 25 at the recent Golfweek Senior Amateur at PGA West.

Herb Fisher took fifth place at the Golfweek Senior and was sixth at last year’s SOS Masters. He also took seventh at the 2013 Hesler.

Jerry Hudgins brings with him a wealth of experience and success on both the regional and national levels. The 2008 AmateurGolf.com Senior Player of the Year, Hudgins tied for seventh at the Senior Masters.

Defending senior champion Bob Hullender will also be there. The 1994 U.S. Senior Amateur runner-up, Hullender has won the Carlton Woods Senior, Harvey Penick Invitational and numerous Texas state titles and made headlines earlier this year when he made two holes-in-one over a three-day span and recorded a double-eagle in less than a week.

He won by two shots over Larry Walsh in last year’s event. He also won the inaugural Super Senior title back in 2011.

Mike Peck will also be back to defend his title in the Senior Division. Last year, he won a playoff over Bob Kearney to prevail.

“The quality of the event is high,” said Mark Greer, Head PGA Professional at Miramont Country Club and one of the coordinators of the Tower Invitational. “Our goal this year was to get more players from out of state into the field and we’ve seen growth throughout.”

The Tower Invitational started in 2011 and the field has grown 20 percent since last year’s event. This year, the event will feature a cut after two rounds for the first time.

Practice rounds begin at Miramont on April 29 with a welcome dinner April 30 following the first round.

This is our biggest event every year,” Greer said. “It has turned out to be exactly what we wanted it to be and that’s a great national and regional senior and super senior event.

“We have an awesome field, and they’re excited to come here.”

Miramont Country Club will also host the PGA Junior Championship in July.

Tournament results and coverage will be available on the Tower Invitational website throughout the event. Visit www.TowerInvitational.com for more information.
