SEC: Wyatt, Alabama win in wire-to-wire fashion
ST. SIMON'S ISLAND, Ga. (April 27, 2014) --
Alabama justified it's top spot in the national
rankings with a dominating victory at the 2014
SEC Men's Golf Championship at Sea Island.
Using a medalist performance from Bobby
Wyatt, the Tide won in record-setting and
wire-to-wire fashion, finishing 16 shots ahead
of LSU.
Wyatt shot rounds of 65-61-66 to blow away
the competition. He was seven shots better
than LSU's Smylie Kaufman, who took solo
second in the individual race.
Alabama also received solid play from Robby
Shelton (67-67-66) and Cory Whitsett (68-71-
67).
Alabama won the SEC title for the third
straight year and for the fifth time overall.
Wyatt is the fourth Alabama player to garner
medalist honors, joining Bobby Hill in 1952,
Michael Thompson in 2008 and Justin Thomas
in 2012.
