Signal Mountain Inv.: McGowan storms back to win

SIGNAL MOUNTAIN, Tenn. (May 19, 2014) -- Former University of North Carolina golfer Michael McGowan shot a final-round 64 to come from behind and win the 2014 Signal Mountain Invitational.
McGowan entered the final round trailing leader Richard Spangler by five shots but stormed back to win by one shot.
Spangler opened play with two traight rounds of 69.
Steve Johnson, who wntered the final round in second place, shot 71-69-69 to finish solo third.
Mitch Hufstetler shot 72-73-73 to win the Senior Division by four shots. He toppled runner-up Tom Baird.
Other flight winners included: Jay Cooper, Alan Cates, Andrew Weathers, Walt Moffitt and McKeehanon Rue.
The Signal Mountain Invitational is a 54-hole stroke play flighted invitational and considered one of the oldest in the state of Tennessee and an annual showcase of the top players in the region.
