Patrick Rodgers named Ben Hogan Award winner
The impressive season just keeps getting better for Stanford's Patrick Rodgers.
Earlier this year, the junior became the world's top-ranked amateur golfer according to the World Amateur Golf Rankings. This past weekend, he tied Tiger Woods' school record for career victories.
And on Sunday, Rodgers was officially named the 2014 Ben Hogan Award winner.
Rodgers was a finalist for the award in 2012 as a freshman and has only improved since that time. This year alone, he has six victories and five runner-up finishes. His wins have come at many of college golf's most prestigious events, including the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters, Prestige at PGA West and Stanford's own 'The Goodwin' invitational.
Rodgers is also a two-time Walker Cup participant and played in the Palmer Cup in 2013. Last summer, Rodgers also reached the final 16 at the U.S. Amateur, won the stroke-play portion of the Western Amateur and placed 15th at the PGA Tour's John Deere Classic.
Rodgers beat out teammate Cameron Wilson and Georgia Tech star Ollie Schniederjans for the prize.
