W. Penn. Senior: Schlachter rolls
Paul Schlachter
PRESTO, Penn. (May 20, 2014) -- Paul Schlachter shot rounds of 70-67 to win by two shots at the 2014 Western Pennsylvania Senior Amateur at The Club at Nevillewood.
Schlachter, a longtime force in regional and national competition, sat tied with Stan Namola, Jr. after Round 1 but signed for the tournament's lowest round in the finale to keep distance from a surging Perry Graciano.
Graciano finished alone in second place after rounds of 71-68 and was the only other competitor aside from Schlachter to finish under par at 5-under.
The next closest finishing score was eight shots back as Don Erickson, III finished solo third after rounds of 75-72.
Mike McGuire won the Super Senior title in a scorecard playoff after tying Lee Lykens at the top of the leaderboard. Dave DeNezza was third.
