Colorado Sr. Open: Elway finishes in top 20
DENVER, Colo. (May 30, 2014) — Eleven amateur players made the cut at the Colorado Senior Open this week, the most notable being Denver Broncos general manager John Elway.
Elway shot 71-78-75 for a total of eight-over 224 to tie for 19th at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club. He was the second lowest amateur in the field this week.
"It's fun for me to play in tournament situations," Elway explained to the Colorado Golf Association. "I feel like I've become a better player because when you play under the gun you concentrate more. I get better when I play in these tournaments, which I like."
Kent Moore tied for sixth to take low amateur honors. He shot three-over 219 for three rounds, finishing five strokes behind champion Ron Schroeder.
