Kansas Pub-Links: Burton fires 67 for two stroke win

MANHATTAN, Kan. (June 1, 2014) -- After a final round 4-under par 68, Manhattan's Zac Burton claimed the 20th KGA Public Links Championship at Colbert Hills Golf Course in Manhattan.
Burton finished the 36-hole championship at 5-under par 139 total which was good for a two shot victory.
Burton started the day two shots back of the lead which was held overnight by 2001 Kansas Amateur champion Matt Williams and KGA veteran Steve Newman after they finished the first round with 3-under par 69's.
Junction City's Brian Fehr finished in the runner-up position after consecutive under par rounds of 70 and 71.
2013 Kansas Amateur champion Chase Hanna and KGA veteran Steve Newman finished in a tie for third at 1-over par 145. Thank you all the participants as well as the staff of Colbert Hills for a great weekend!
The 36-hole weekend championship was recently opened up to all KGA members for the first time in the events history. The championship includes gross & net scoring within three age divisions. Cart is included for both rounds as part of the entry fee.
