Pacific Northwest Senior: Knoll leads Brandes, field
POWELL BUTTE, Ore. (June 3, 2014) -- Northern California's Jim Knoll fired a 3-under 69 Tuesday to take the first round lead at the 2014 Pacific Northwest Golf Association Senior Amateur at Brasada Ranch.
Knoll scattered five birdies throughout his opening round, including three on the back nine, to go up on Tom Brandes and the field.
Washington-area senior Tom Brandes shot 1-under 71 and sits alone in second place.
Oregon's Carey Watson is third thanks to a first-round 72.
Brandes is the event's two-time defending champion and seems poised to make a run in the 54-hole event but will have to overtake the veteran Knoll, who recently won the Northern California Senior.
