Connecticut State Am: Yale's Gaudette leads by 1
NORTH STONINGTON, Conn. (June 16, 2014) -- Rising Yale golfer Sean Gaudette fired the only round under par Monday and takes a one-shot lead at the 2014 Connecticut Amateur Championship.
At Lake Of Isles, Gaudette, who hails from Western Massachusetts, carded a first-round 1-under 71 and leads Dave Szewczul and Chris Pavelic by a shot entering Tuesday's second round of stroke-play qualifying.
Following Tuesday's round, the field will be cut to the low 32 players for the start of match play on Wednesday. The 36-hole finale is slated for Friday.
A group of seven sit at 1-over 73 while six more are 2-over after Round 1.
