Connecticut State Amateur: Sean Gaudette takes No. seed
NORTH STONINGTON, Conn. (June 17, 2014) -- Sean Gaudette shot a second-round 73 to take medalist honors at the 112th Connecticut State Amateur Championship at Lake of Isles.
Gaudette, who hails from Western Massachusetts but plays at Yale, shot 71 in the first round and completed the stroke-play qualifying on top and earn the No. 1 seed heading into match play, which begins Wednesday.
Patrick Albanese and Rick Hayes stormed back to shoot identical 72s and will be the Nos. 2 and 3 seeds.
Match play begins Wednedsay and concludes with the championship match on Friday.

The Connecticut Amateur Championship is one of
the
nation’s oldest state amateur golf championships
and
is one of 19 championship tournaments conducted
by
the Connecticut State Golf Association. The
challenging format tests the state's best amateur
golfers over two rounds of stroke play to determine
the low thirty-two match play qualifiers. Two rounds
of match play each day culminate in a thirty-six hole
final to crown the top amateur player in Connecticut.
