With the arrival of the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball
Championship, it signals the end of the U.S.
Amateur Public Links Championship.
Slated for July 14-19 at Sand Creek Station
Golf Course in Newton, Kan., the 2014 U.S.
Public Links Championship will be the final
playing in the long history of the event.
Qualifying began in early June with thousands
of hungry public golfers hoping to etch their
name to some of the game's top players in
this, the final year of the event.
Throughout qualifying, we'll look at some of
the
interesting players to punch their tickets to
Sand Creek Station.

Garrett Rank of Canada shot a 36-hole total of
129 at Oak Pointe Country Club (Brighton,
Mich.), taking medalist honors. Rank, of
course, was the runner-up at the 2012 U.S.
Mid-Amateur Championship.
Recent Rice Planter's Amateur champion Rigel
Fernandes of the University of South Florida
took medalist honors at the Fairfield, Conn.
qualifier. He shot a 36-hole total of 143 to
edge Jacob Jenny at H. Smith Richardson Golf
Course.
Highly-ranked junior and future Texas
Longhorn
Doug Ghim of Arlington Heights, Ill. led all
scorers at the La Salle, Ill. qualifier. He shot a
two-round total of 140 to beat out Brian
Bullington and Mitchell Homb for medalist
honors at Senica's Oak Ridge.
Longtime Pennsylvania mid-amateur Sean
Knapp edged Gran Schumaker to take the lone
qualifying spot at the Blue Ridge Country Club
(Harrisburg, PA) qualifier.
St. Mary's golfer and AmateurGolf.com Tour
regular Jonathan De Los Reyes took second
place behind Ryan Sloane at Boundary Oak
Golf
CLub (Walnut Creek, Calif.). De Los Reyes
edged teammates Mac Marr and Cody
Robinson
to advance to championship proper.
Rising USC star Rico Hoey led all players at
the
Neshanic Valley Golf Course (Branchburg, NJ)
qualifier. He shot 141 and took one of just two
berths from the location.
Rising University of Virginia golfer David
Pastore, of Greenwich, Conn., medaled at the
Bethpage State Park qualifier in Farmingdale,
N.Y. He beat four qualifiers, including Dylan
Crowley of St. John's.
