SAMMAMISH, Wash. (June 26, 2014) -- The next stop on the summer circuit for the nation's top amateur golfers is the Sahalee Players Championship at Sahalee Country Club from June 30-July 2.
Yet another loaded field takes aim at the 21st playing of the event, which calls Kyle Stanley, Casey Martin, Peter Uihlein, Ryan Moore and Jason Gore, among others, as past champions.
The field features a solid mix of top-flight juniors and collegiate stars.
Perhaps the hottest player in the field is Xander Schauffele, the recent California State Amateur winner.
Schauffele, a rising golfer at San Diego State, topped University of Texas star Beau Hossler in the finale last weekend and recently took a tie for third at the prestigious Sunnehanna Amateur in Pennsylvania.
He'll have some stiff competition in fellow rising collegiate stars Bryson Dechambeau (SMU), Cheng-Tsung Pan (Washington), Eli Cole (TCU), Hans Reimers (recent Mercer graduate), Kurt Kitayama (UNLV), Lorens Chan (UCLA), Rigel Fernandes (South Florida) and Viraat Badhwar (Stanford).
Dechambeau, of course, was named to the U.S. Palmer Cup squad while Fernandes lapped the field while winning the Rice Planter's.
Leading the junior contingency is reigning U.S. Junior champion Scott Scheffler, who logged a Top 25 last month at the HP Byron Nelson, his debut on the PGA Tour.
Sahalee Country Club hosted the 2010 U.S. Senior Open, 1998 PGA Championship and the 2002 WGC NEC Invitational.
The event tees off Monday with 36 holes. AmateurGolf.com will have complete coverage of the event. For a full look at the field, please follow the results link below.
