George C. Thomas Invitational: McCoy, Exber win titles

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (June 28, 2014) -- Mike McCoy closed out another title over a top field, winning a second straight George C. Thomas Invitational at Los Angeles Country Club.
McCoy shot a final-round 70 to beat Brady Exber by three shots and Kris Mikkelson and Jeff Wilson by four for the overall title.
Jeff Wilson, who held a two-shot lead heading into the final round, stumbled to a 76 in the final round and finished tied with Mikkelson and Burda.
Exber was the Senior Champion, shooting a final-round 68 to come from behind and top Jeff Burda by a shot.
The George C. Thomas Invitational is one of the nation's premier mid-amateur and senior amateur events. The format is 54 holes of stroke play. For full results, follow the link below.

George Thomas Invitational
54-hole stroke play invitational with Mid-Am and
Senior divisions is named for George C. Thomas, Jr.,
the legendary golf course architect who designed the
courses for Bel-Air Country Club, The Los Angeles
Country Club, Riviera Country Club and others in the
1920s. Thomas was a prominent rose breeder on
the
East Coast before gaining fame as a golf course
designer. Los Angeles Country Club was the host of
the 2017 Walker Cup.
