Steve Anderson closes out Palm Beach Mid-Senior
JUPITER, Fla. (June 29, 2014) -- Former champion Steve Anderson of Hobe Sound got his revenge with a closing round of five under par 67 Sunday – the lowest score of the weekend -- to win the 10th annual Bobby Bryant Memorial Mid-Senior tournament.

At 138, Anderson edged defending champion R.J. Nakashian of Palm Beach Gardens by a shot. Steve was second to R.J. last year, 135 to 140, at The Wanderers Club in Wellington.

Anderson birdied seven of his last nine holes on the Fazio course at Jonathan’s Landing Golf Club at Old Trail, including six in a row starting at No. 12, and seven for the day, with two bogeys on the front nine and a double bogey at the 18th

Nakashian scored 70-69—139 with four birdies and a bogey at No. 18 about 10 minutes after Anderson finished. Brad Ball of Jupiter, the first round leader at 69, slipped to a tie for fifth on 75—144.

It was Anderson’s 15th Palm Beach County Golf Association title since 2008, including the 2010 Bryant at the Ritz Carlton GC (now Trump National-Jupiter).

Anderson and Nakashian will be among the favorites for the 39th annual Palm Beach Kennel Club/County Amateur Championship July 11-13 at the Country Club of Florida and Quail Ridge CC-North, the next event on the PBCGA tournament schedule. R.J. lists the 2004 County Amateur among his 19 PBCGA titles. He tied for third in the Florida State Amateur a week ago at Quail Valley in Vero Beach.

The 58-player field was divided into two flights after the first round Saturday. Jonathan Sauce of Miami shot 79-75—154 to take the lower flight.
