BIRMINGHAM, ALA – LSU rising senior
Stewart
Jolly has been
selected as the Southern Golf Association’s
National Amateur of the
Month Award for June after winning the
Northeast Amateur, one of
the top events on the summer amateur
circuit.

Jolly won the Northeast as the only
competitor to finish under
par on the par-69 Wannamoisett CC course
in
Rhode Island. His 274
total was two shots ahead of Oklahoma
State
star Jordan
Neibrugge and three ahead of Texas teen
phenom Scottie Scheffler
in a strong field of nationally-ranked
amateurs.
Jolly, from Birmingham, led LSU to the
NCAA final four of the
match play a month earlier. He made All-SEC
,
3rd team All-America
and earned a spot on the U.S. Palmer Cup
team that lost to
Europe.
Previous winners of the March-October
award this year were
Stanford’s Patrick Rodgers, Georgia Tech’s
Ollie
Schniederjans and
NCAA championship medalist Cameron
Wilson.
The national
selection panel consists of notable golf
journalists, officials and
coaches. The coveted award, now in its 12th
year, is one of many
ways the SGA promotes and advances
amateur
golf, including its
storied Southern Amateur, the 108th
playing
set for later this
month at the exclusive Honors Course near
Chattanooga.
