Illinois Amateur: Slutzky with big lead
WHEATON, Ill. (July 15, 2014) -- Chadd Slutzky jumped out to a big lead at the Illinois State Amateur on Tuesday.
Slutzky fired a fantastic six-under 66 at Cantigny Golf and holds a four-stroke lead over the field. He spaced his birdies out well, making birdie on the first, fifth, and seventh, before he made eagle on the par-5 14th. He closed with a birdie for the 66.
Matthew Weber, Nick Hardy, and Blake Johnson all shot two-under 70 and are tied for second.
Defending champion Tee-K Kelly posted a first-round 73 and is tied for 11th.
