U.S. Junior: Horsfield, Crocker tie for medalist as match play begins

THE WOODLANDS, Tex. (July 22, 2014) -- Sean Crocker and Sam Horsfield both
finished tied atop the leaderboard after two rounds of stroke-play qualifying at the
2014 U.S. Junior Amateur and share medalist honors.
The two talented juniors will be the top two seeds when match play begins
Wednesday on the Nicklaus Course at The Club at Carlton Woods.
Horsfield carded two rounds in the 60s, shooting 68-69, while Crocker, from
Zimbabwe, shot 71-66 to tie for top honors.
Horsfield is hoping to make another run this year. Last year, the University of
Florida commit, went all the way to the quarterfinals and has since been on a major
streak of success.
First-round leader Riley Davis of Mississippi tied for third place alongside U.S. Open
participant Will Grimmer and Germany's Dominic Foos.

competition, the U.S. Junior Amateur is
considered the premier junior competition,
having been around since 1948. The event

open to male golfers who have not
reached
their 19th birthday prior to the close of
competition and whose USGA Handicap

does not exceed 2.4. The U.S. Junior is
one of
15 national championship conducted
annually
by the USGA.
