Pfeil edges Zarek at Wisconsin Senior Amateur

WAUSAU, Wisc. (August 26, 2014) — Despite trailing the leader by six shots heading into the final round, Richard Pfeil continued his steady play at the Wisconsin Senior Amateur and wound up victorious after a two-hour rain delay at Greenwood Hills Country Club.
Pheil shot 74 on Monday, and was six back of first-round leader Paul Zarek. But Zarek, and James Green who shot 69 on Monday, both struggled to 79s on Tuesday, allowing Pheil and his 74 to sneak into the lead by just one stroke.
Zarek finsihed in second while Green finished in third, along with defending champion Ramiro Romo.

ABOUT THE
Wisconsin Senior Amateur
This statewide 36-hole tournament, conducted for
players aged 55 and older, was started in 1981 and
is considered the finest senior event in the state.
Competition for both gross and net awards is
conducted in three different age divisions: Senior
(55-64), Super-Senior (65-69) and Legends (70 &
over), as well as for the overall gross and net
trophies. A three-man team competition, the Sam
Ruskin Cup, where players representing the same
club compete for the Cup, is also held. To be
eligible,
players must have a WSGA Handicap Index of 16.4
or less.
