David Lucks wins Sunnehanna Senior Invitational
WESTMONT, Pa. (Sept. 10, 2014) — David Lucks of Johnstown, Pa. got himself into the final group at the Sunnehanna Senior Invitational with solid rounds of 72 and 71 in the first two rounds. But a Wednesday 68 surged him ahead into the lead, finishing three shots ahead of Tom Hyland to win the tournament.
Second-round leader Hal Wright, who shot 67 on Tuesday, shot 74 on Wednesday and finished in a tie for fourth place — five shots back of Lucks.
Hyland, a member at Sunnehanna Country Club, closed with a 69 after opening rounds of 72 and 73 to finish alone in second place.
Third place finisher Joe Corsi was the most consistent player all week, shooting rounds of 72-72-71.
In the Super Senior division, first-round leader Ray Seemiller and Jeffrey True were deadlocked after 54 holes at 215. After going to the first sudden-death playoff hole, True's par outlasted Seemiller's bogey. A final-round 70 allowed Seemiller the opportunity to get into the playoff with True, as well as second-round leader John Peters' 75. Peters dropped into a tie for fourth.
The 93-player field was the largest in the tournament's 10-year history.
