Troy Johnson wins Minnesota Mid-Amateur in playoff
CHASKA, Minn. (Sept. 25, 2014) — Troy Johnson found himself in a three-way playoff at the conclusion of 54 holes at the Minnesota Mid-Amateur. All it took was one hole as he sank a 10-footer on the first green to take the championship.

Shooting a final round 71 was Johnson, who shot 70 and 73 in the opening rounds. Jonathan Hanner shot a final-round 68 to force his way into the playoff, while Erik Christopherson's 69 on Thursday earned him the third spot in sudden death.

Christopherson left his birdie attempt on the first and only playoff hole two inches short before Johnson sank his winner.

Second-round leader Will Hickey shot 80 on Thursday and fell back into a tie for eighth place. Hickey has shot 70-68 heading into the final round before the collapse led to his drop out of the top-five.

Finishing in a three-way tie for second place were Tony Brown, Joel Johnson, and Jesse Larsen, all finishing at even-par 215. Brown's 68 on Thursday was tied for the lowest round of the tournament and almost got him into the playoff after being four over through two rounds.
