Courington, Christian squeak by to win Kansas Mid-Amateur Team
WICHITA, Kan. (Oct. 1, 2014) — After opening the tournament on Monday, played in a shamble format, with a 10-under par round of 62, Jack Courington and Spencer Christian maintained their lead throughout the next two days to hang on to a one-shot win.
Day two, which was played in a modified chapman alternate shot, had the pair shooting 70, which was tied for the lowest round of the day. Then on Wednesday, a four-under par 68, though it wasn't the lowest of the day, sent them home victorious.
One half of the defending champion team, Pete Krsnich, and his new playing partner Corey Novascone, were six back entering the final round but shot a best-ball score of 64 on Wednesday to finish just two back of Courington and Christian.
Second place went to Derek Harrison and Aaron Sheaks, who shot 63-70-68.
