Aleksei Koika claims three-stroke victory at Napa City
Aleksei Koika
NAPA, Calif. (Nov. 4, 2014) — With his opening-round 67 at Napa Municipal Golf Course, Aleksei Koika made his three-shot win at the Napa City Championship a lot easier come Sunday.
Only five players in the 36-hole tournament posted numbers in the 60's, including the winner's round on Saturday and second-place finisher Ben Corfee's closing round.
Koika shot 73 on Sunday, but that actually extended his two-shot lead to three at the conclusion of the tournament. Corfee, shooting 76 on Saturday, came from well behind to finish alone in second place.
Stephen Dobkins carded 73-72 to finish by himself in third place, five shots back.
In the senior division, Ed Thiele shot 76-72 to win by a stroke over Jim Williams. First-round leader Jim Duncan (73) shot 83 on Sunday and fell eight shots out of the lead.
