Louisville junior Katie Mitchell cards 69 on day one at The Sally
Katie Mitchell
ORMOND BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 14, 2015) — An opening-round 69 has Louisville redshirt junior Katie Mitchell out to an early three-stroke lead after day one at the Women's South Atlantic Amateur.
Mitchell took fifth place at last year's event.
The Jacksonville native leads Sierra Brooks, a junior golfer from Lake Mary Prep, by three, and Kennedy Bodfield and Nelly Korda by four.
Korda, just 17-years-old, won last week's Harder Hall Women's Invitational despite incurring a two-shot penalty on her first hole of the first round.
This 72-hole stroke play event, known as "The Sally," will conclude on Saturday at Oceanside Country Club.
