ARLINGTON, Texas — Michael Ray from Dallas and Joshua Irving Fort Worth on Sunday combined to shoot a 3-under-par 69 in the final round of the North Regional Four-Ball Championship presented by UST Mamiya.
Despite a final hole bogey, Ray and Irving won the championship at Tierra Verde Golf Club by a single shot over the team of Fort Worth’s Jordan Woolf and Clark Mitzner of Dallas.
Ray and Irving teamed to post a two-day total of 11-under 133 to best Woolf and Mitzner’s 10-under 134. Co-leaders after 18 holes, Ray and Irving battled through a steady, cold rain and opened with eight consecutive pars before they carded two birdies and an eagle down the stretch in Sunday’s final round.
Woolf and Mitzner combined for five birdies and an eagle. Their 6-under 66 was the day’s low round, but they came up short of the championship by a single stroke. They finished alone in second place, two shots ahead of the teams of Brandon Scott/Jeff White and Zach Atkinson/Brad Gibson, who shared third place at 8-under 136.
