Rowin Caron
SAN JOSE DEL CABO, Mexico — Four-under par
rounds of 67 from juniors
Rowin Caron and Hank Lebioda helped Florida
State
move from four back in
third place into an eight-shot victory at the
Querencia
Cabo Collegiate as the
Seminoles shot seven-under on the final day.
Trailing South Florida by four entering Tuesday's
final
round, Caron of the
Netherlands and Lebioda of Winter Springs, Fla.
matched their rounds from
day one when they both carded 67s, as well. The
final-day push helped the
Seminoles to their third win of the season, and
first of
the spring.
Florida State had previously won in the fall at
the
Tavistock Collegiate and
the FGCU Classic.
Caron finished in second place, one ahead of
Baylor
senior Kyle Jones in third
while Lebioda tied for fourth along with Will
Zalatoris
of Wake Forest and
Rigel Fernandes of South Florida.
South Florida led by one entering the final day
but
shot five-over on Tuesday
and dropped back into a third place finish.
Vanderbilt
went even lower than
the winning Seminoles on Tuesday, shooting 11-
under
as a team thanks to a
67 from Hunter Stewart and 68s from Theo
Humphrey
and Carson Jacobs.
The Commodores' final day solidified them a
second
place finish by a stroke
over the USF Bulls.
Individually, Washington senior Cheng-
Tsung
Pan (left) of Chinese Taipei
earned his second title of the spring, edging
Caron of
FSU by a stroke.
Pan shot rounds of 68-67-69 to finish at nine-
under
204, leading his Huskies
to a fourth place finish. Corey Pereira and
Jonathan
Sanders both had top-10
finishes for Washington.
Pan previously captured the individual title at the
Amer Ari
Invitational when his team took
second place to the red-hot Arizona State Sun
Devils,
who have now won
three times this spring.
