Jack Hall wins Jones Cup Senior Invitational
Jack Hall
SEA ISLAND, Ga. — Doug Hanzel was in position to win the Jones Cup Senior Invitational for the third time in the tournament's four-year history. Having won the inaugural event in 2012, as well as last year's event, Hanzel entered Wednesday's final round tied with fellow Savannah, Ga. resident Jack Hall at even-par 140.
But Hall carded 69 on the final day while Hanzel shot two-over 72, giving Hall the victory in the tournament fourth annual running.
Hall started slow on the front side at the Seaside Course at Sea Island Golf Club, going out in one-over par 36, but made four birdies on the back nine, along with two bogeys, to post 69 and claim the tournament by three strokes.
Taking third place was co-first-round leader Rocky Costa of Alpharetta at 216 while recent Golfweek Senior National Championship winner Steve Hudson and John Skeadas tied for fourth at 217.
