Jonny Hogan wins Goleta City by four at Glen Annie

GOLETA, Calif. — Santa Barbara City College sophomore Jonny Hogan of Santa Ynez fired 71-69 over the weekend to win the Goleta City Championship. His victory was by four shots over Alton Anderson and Jesse Yap at Glen Annie Golf Club in the town of Goleta, which is near Santa Barbara.

Hogan, who went to Santa Ynez High School before joining the SBCC team, was one of five players to shoot 71 on Saturday to share the 18-hole lead before his 69 on Sunday separated him from the pack.

Second-place finisher Anderson is a former BYU golfer from Thousand Oaks while Yap is from Singapore and currently plays for Cal Poly.

The name 'Goleta' may not be as well known as it's famous neighbor, Santa Barbara. But it has great weather, and a great golf course called Glen Annie. Each spring, the Goleta City Championship in March brings out a strong field of local college players and mid-amateurs. The 36-hole, two-day championship will include championship, handicap and women's flights.
