Matt NeSmith of South Carolina and Kolton Crawford of Arkansas also posted 65 on Friday.

Alabama took four scores in the 60s in the first round. Along with Shelton's 65, the Crimson Tide carded a 67 from Jonathan Hardee, 68 from Davis Love III's son Dru, and a 69 from Robby Prater.

LSU, led by Brandon Pierce's 67, are in second place at six-under while Auburn and South Carolina are just a shot back in third.
