Doug Pool wins wire-to-wire at Senior Masters

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. — Doug Pool of Las Vegas, Nev. went wire-to-wire at the Senior Masters, an annual event run by the Society of Seniors in the California desert.
Playing Indian Wells Golf Resort, Pool carded an opening round of 68 to lead by three shots before posting two straight rounds of 71 to edge Bob Kain of Cleveland, Ohio by a single stroke. Kain posted 69 on day two to pull within one of Pool before the two shot the same score on Thursday. Kain took second place by three shots over John Gallacher of British Columbia, Canada.
Jim Knoll of Sunnyvale, Calif. went low on day three to jump into the top-five. Knoll, the 2015 Northern California Senior Amateur winner, opened the tournament with rounds of 78-72 before shooting 65 on Thursday. He placed fourth, one back of Gallacher for third place.
In the Super Senior division, Chris Maletis of Portland, Ore. won by four shots over David Rasley of Payson, Ariz.
