2015 U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball Preview
BANDON, Ore. — Right on the heels of Nathan Smith and Todd White's resounding victory at the men's event at The Olympic Club, the U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball kicks off Saturday at Bandon Dunes.

The Pacific Dunes course will host the entirety of the tournament, which will measure 6,003 yards and play as a par 72. It figures to create a stern test for the competitors as the course's distinct links design should present a natural risk-reward element to a format that tends to foster aggressive play.

The field is highlighted by the field's youngest player — 12-year-old phenom Lucy Li of Redwood City, Calif. — who will be paired with Kathleen Scabo of Benecia, Calif. Li made history in 2014 becoming the youngest U.S. Women's Open qualifier at age 11, just a year after becoming the youngest U.S. Women's Amateur at age 10.

Four former USGA champions will be at Bandon, including the most recent winner Meghan Stasi at the 2012 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur. Stasi is a decorated USGA player as her 2012 victory was her fourth time winning the event. Other past victors in the field include Amber Marsh Elliott (2003 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur), Martha Leach (2009 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur), and Mina Hardin (2010 U.S. Women's Senior Amateur).

Stasi, 36, will be paired with Dawn Woodard, 40, of Greer, S.C., who is a regional champion in the Carolinas area, having won the 2011 and 2012 Carolinas Women's Match Play Championship.

One of many young groups to watch should be 16-year-old Hannah O'Sullivan of Chandler, Ariz. and her partner Robynn Ree of Redondo Beach, Calif. Both players have committed to play collegiately for USC, with Ree enrolling this fall and O'Sullivan next fall. O'Sullivan recently became the youngest player to ever win a Symetra Trour event when she won the 2015 Gateway Classic.

After 36 holes of stroke play qualifying, the top 32 teams (half of the field) will qualify for match play. Like the U.S. Men's Amateur Four-Ball, the final four rounds, beginning Tuesday, will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1.
